Examiner System
The Medical Examiner system or “MedEx”, for short, is a whole
new extension to the Family of BEAST solutions that Porter Lee
Corp offers to the Law, Forensic and now Medical Examiner community.
Built to take advantage of the bar coding technology incorporated
in the Police Evidence Tracking and Laboratory Information Management
Systems, MedEx provides the functionality designed to meet the
needs of Medical Examiners and Coroners.
Pathologists are provided with a "one screen" view of pertinent
information such as preliminary, contributory, cause, manner
of death, ICD codes, diagnosis and body disposition information.
It allows them to update body status and when it is allowed
to be release to the funeral home.
Investigators are allowed to take in a call and create and manage
the electronic case, print worksheets and log story information
pertaining to the case.
Morgue attendants are allowed to take in the body, create tissue
sample items during autopsy, track those samples, release the
body to the funeral home and conduct daily body inventory.
Leveraging the existing functionality of the BEAST Laboratory
Information Management System allows the MedEx to incorporate
laboratory functions such as evidence submission by police agencies,
tracking its chain of custody, toxicology ordering, performing
analysis on samples, and generating toxicology and autopsy reports.
